Case 1: IN - 13 y

Female patient, aged 13 years, with a Class I skeletal relationship. She was Class II dentally.

The incisor relationship was close to normal, although there was a midline discrepancy and a lack of space for erupting UR3.

Treatment
  • Fixed appliances MBT 022- all teeth were banded/bracketed
  • Upper first premolars were extracted.
  • The case was treated to a Class II buccal occlusion.
  • Active tiebacks in the upper arch to achieve space closure and overjet reduction.
  • Active treatment period: June 2014-June 2016
  • Upper clear retainer and lower fixed retainer.
Case 2: LC-18 y

Adult female patient, aged 25 years, with Class I skeletal pattern and a slightly class II dentally. The patient presented a Class II division 2 incisor relationship, upper incisors were retroclined to the maxillary plane and an associated midline discrepancy. There was a mild crowding on both arches.

Treatment
  • The case was treated as non-extraction case.
  • Fixed appliances MBT 022.
  • Additionally, an upper acrylic removable plate was provided.
  • Full-time Class II elastics.
  • Active treatment period: May 2013 - July 2016
  • Retention protocol: Upper Hawley retainer with a bite-plane and lower fixed retainer.
  • Monitor the development and eruption of the third molars.
Case 3: GE -16y

This female patient was aged 16 years and showed a slightly high-angle pattern and a Class I skeletal pattern. There was pleasing balance and harmony to the pack profile. Molar relationship was Class I, but there was a Class II Canine relationship, anterior open bite and bilateral buccal cross-bite.

Treatment
  • Fixed appliances MBT 022.
  • Expansion of the upper arch using a quadhelix appliance.
  • Full-time box elastics.
  • Active treatment period: October 2014-January 2016.
  • Hawley retainer on upper arch and lower fixed retainer.
  • Monitor the development and eruption of the third molars.
Case 4: SL-26Y

A 25-year-old patient with a slight Class III skeletal pattern and a low-angle pattern. Molar relationship was slightly Class III bilaterally, and there was a Class III incisor relationship. There was a mild upper anterior crowding and LL6 was previously extracted and the patient will have an implant after the orthodontic treatment.

The patient had periodontal problems and before the orthodontic treatment was started she had a periodontal treatment.

A CT scan was needed due to the periodontal problems of the patient to measure the tightness of the alveolar bone.

Treatment
  • First stage of orthodontic treatment : Fixed appliance MBT 022 on lower arch and a removable appliance with buccal capping on upper arch to free the occlusion with lower arch.
  • Second stage : Fixed appliance on upper arch: Incognito lingual system. Additionally, 2 brackets were bonded on the buccal surface of upper first molars for Class III elastics.
  • Periodically, the patient had periodontal assessments with the Periodontist specialist.
  • Active treatment period: January 2015-June 2016.
  • Upper Hawley retainer and lower fixed retainer.
Case 5: RB -14Y

A male patient, aged 14y at the start of the treatment, with Class I skeletal bases on an average angle pattern.

Dentally, there was anterior crowding with a lack of space for upper permanent canines and deep-bite.

Treatment
  • Fixed appliances - WIN lingual system.
  • Turbo-bites on lower first molars.
  • Non-extraction case.
  • Stripping on lower incisors.
  • Active treatment period: April 2014-December 2015.
  • Clear retainers upper and lower arches.
Case 6: BD-19y
Unfinished case

A male patient, aged 19 years, with Class I dental bases on a average vertical pattern, but with a deep overbite.

Intraorally, the molars and the canines were Class I bilaterally and mild anterior crowding upper and lower. The lower midline was 1mm to the left.

Treatment
  • Fixed appliances - MBT 022.
  • No extractions are required.
  • Stripping on lower arch.
  • Triangle elastics to settle the teeth together.
  • Fixed retainers upper and lower.
Case 7: LS-17 yUnfinished case

A female patient, aged 17 years, showed a mild Class III dental bases And a Class III molars relationship with reduce overbite. There was a slight upper arch crowding, posterior open bite on left side and cross bite bilaterally.

Treatment
  • Fixed appliances- Damon system.
  • Box elastics and Class III elastics between upper and lower arches to correct the bite and settle the teeth together.
  • The space on lower arch will be close during orthodontic treatment by moving molars mesial.
  • Following the orthodontic treatment retainers are needed to hold the result.
  • The patient and the parents were informed of the possible need to extract the third molars, except the LL8.
